This week the students continued to work on their MSPowerPoint Presentation. One group continued to work on their projects in Movie Maker. These students are learning how to edit the time per frame (either speeding up the frame or slowing down the frame), adding background color and changing font size and color in movie maker. The projects are really creative and the students' interpretations of the fables are "very" clever.
The Turquoise Students met for only 1 day this week. The students worked on their animations, games, stories and Scratch projects. One group started working on a project in Movie Maker about Aesop Fables.
This week in the Turquoise Room, the students are continuing to add different levels/adventures with their stories. Some are working on their games where their characters earn points. The second group is learning how to make queries or searches on their database about Mummies. Also, the students are continuing to work on their Scratch games in their free time.
The students in the TR have worked really hard this week on their games, stories or comics in MSPowerPoint. Some students have requested to use Stencyl.com as a tool to create a game for their Wonder Hour projects in Myra's class Stencyl is video game development tool that allows users to create 2D video games. We are encountering some problems when large images are in the RAM. We will use this for a short while to allow students time to learn the "basics" of the program.
Students are using their database skills this week. Group B started a project in Access. While Access may seem a bit challenging-students easily grasp the differences between a field, record, and form. As well switching between a table and a form. As the school year ends, we will continue to work on the database files and learn to manipulate the database effectively.
Group A students are continuing working on their stories and some are doing a research project on Egypt using MSPowerPoint. This week the students started a new project on Egypt using PowerPoint features. It really is a review. The students had to create a seven-slides presentation.
This week the Turquoise Room practiced making Comics using MSWord, but later switched to MS PowerPoint. Also, some students are continuing to work on their stories and games. On Thursday, some students continued to work on their projects in Scratch.
The Turquoise Room students have been learning a little more about Scratch. While there are different levels it is more about what the students want to learn through their creativity.
On Thursday, in this assignment, students applied their knowledge of font, font size, font style, text effects, and font color to change the words in the poem "Lion" by Ronald J Chapman to look like their meaning. This week the students are working on various coding projects in Scratch. Also, an introduction to Google's website, "Madewith Code" was an option for those students who did not want to work on a Scratch project.
